FUNDRAISING GALA DESIGN

EVENT CONCEPT & BRANDING

Every year, youth education non-profit organisation BUILD hosts a fundraising gala to honor a selected entrepreneur who embodies their core values of Grit, Innovation, and Problem Solving. For their 7th annual gala, we helped them honor Joseph S. Lacob, owner of NBA team the Golden State Warriors.

We designed everything from the website to the stage backdrop and dinner table settings, helping the organisation raise a record $2M over the course of the evening.

We designed everything from the website to the stage backdrop and dinner table settings, helping the organisation raise a record $2M over the course of the evening.

THE CHALLENGE

To connect the spirit of youth entrepreneurship with the image of pro basketball in a chic event design. This needed to satisfy design directives from both BUILD and Golden State Warriors brand managers.

THE TIMELINE

When we were hired for this project, there was one week before ticket sales were announced at the Golden State Warriors’ first game of the season. During that week we defined the event concept, developed the website and designed a full suite of fundraising and advertising materials.

SIGNAGE

To decorate the event space, we designed a plexiglas wayfinding and donor recognition signage system, as well as custom banners featuring photography of the Golden State Warriors.

TABLE
SETTINGS

We made all furniture selections, created a 40-foot-long backdrop for the stage and designed a centerpiece for each table, featuring a custom-print black basketball with joint BUILD and Golden State Warriors branding.

THE EVENT

The event was attended by over 400 guests including several celebrities and raised a record $2,000,000 over the course of the evening.

CLIENT PROFILE

BUILD is a non-profit organisation that “uses entrepreneurship to motivate and ignite the potential of high school students from under-resourced communities” across the United States. Through its afterschool programs, BUILD has helped hundreds of struggling students start their own businesses and find the confidence to pursue higher education upon graduation.
